After a month of extradition hearings, a Virginia Beach couple accused of killing a Pennsylvania adult filmmaker will face murder charges in the Keystone State.

Harlow Cuadra, 25, and Joseph Kerekes, 33, will be extradited to Pennsylvania in the next few weeks, said Cpl. Leo Hannon, a commonwealth criminal investigation assessment officer.

For security purposes, Hannon said he could not verify an exact extradition date.

Police arrested the Virginia Beach residents for the murder of gay film producer Bryan Charles Kocis on May 15 after a five-month investigation.

365Gay.com reported that Cuadra produced and starred in gay adult films and that Kerekes was his domestic partner.

Firefighters found Kocis’ body Jan. 24 while fighting a blaze at his Dallas Township home in northeast Pennsylvania, about 10 miles outside of Wilkes-Barre.

Trooper Ronald Jarocha, Pennsylvania Police fire marshal, verified that arson was the cause of the fire. Dental records were used to identify the victim’s severely charred body.

Kocis owned Cobra Video, a lucrative adult-video business that he operated from his basement.

Hannon confirmed that the probable-cause affidavit alleged that Cuadra and Kerekes killed Kocis because they viewed him as a rival in the adult-film industry.

In addition to murder, Hannon said the pair were charged with conspiracy to commit criminal homicide, arson, burglary, robbery, theft, abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence.

Hannon said the minimum penalty for those charges is life in prison.

According to police, Cuadra and Kerekes stabbed Kocis 28 times and slashed his throat, then set his home on fire to destroy evidence.

When homicide detectives reconstructed part of the victim’s computer hard drive, they found a photo of a man who had an appointment with him the night of the murder.

Investigators circulated the photo, and several days later the Times Leader newspaper identified a Virginia Beach escort who claimed he was the man in the photo.

But the man told the Times Leader that he did not know Kocis and was with a client for three hours in Virginia Beach the night of the murder. He also said the photo was a publicity headshot.

Policed identified the man as Cuadra and investigated his involvement by tracking e-mails and phone calls between him and Kocis.

After receiving a wiretap warrant, police found incriminating evidence while recording calls between Cuadra and Kerekes.

Virginia Beach police searched Cuadra’s home Feb. 10, seizing a logbook, videotapes, digital cameras, camcorders, firearms, ammunition, computers and a buccal swab for DNA.

Until extradition, the pair is being held without bond in the Virginia Beach Correctional Center.
