A block party will follow the All-Star festivities at 3 p.m. on Camac Street with Tavern on Camac and Venture Inn. The CBLSL is also inviting other Philadelphia GLBT sports leagues to share the fun on what will be an excellent day! All fans are invited to join us for cocktails and games on what I am sure will be a perfect summer day.
CBLSL would like to congratulate Women’s Division team Yard’s Brewery for its first-place finish in the ASA Class C State tournament. Yard’s beat four teams from all over the state on their way to the title. Congratulations also to the Tavern on Camac Dirty Martinis on their third-place finish in last weekend’s Angel on Third tournament. This Northeast Philadelphia tournament benefits cancer research at Holy Redeemer Hospital. Players from Foul Play and Sisters also joined forces as team “Early Detection” to participate in the tournament.
Looking ahead, we also wish the best of luck to TOC Triple Play, Foul Play and VIP as they make their way to New York City on Labor Day weekend to play in the Playing For Life Tournament in beautiful Central Park. The Playing for Life Tournament benefits the Ali Forney Center in New York, a housing facility for homeless GLBT youth. For more information, go to www.playingforlife.org. The Sisters Women’s team will also represent Philadelphia this September in Knoxville.
If you are interested in joining the CBLSL for spring 2008, please send an e-mail to joincblsl@aol.com. The Women’s Division also welcomes teams who wish to join the league in their entirety; you can contact the women’s commissioner at dirtymartinisphilly@yahoo.com.
