Should high-risk individuals be given anti-HIV drugs prior to testing positive?

Rob Barclay

“No. That’s going too far. The government should spend more time teaching people how to minimize their risks. Don’t drug people up with chemicals that could be devastating to their health.”

Henry Brinton

“Yes. If people are gonna run around and act crazy, why not let them act as guinea pigs for a government study? They could end up being of service in the fight to prevent AIDS.”

Christopher Ellison

“If the person wants the drugs, fine. But they shouldn’t be forced on anyone. That would be an invasion of privacy. It’s up to the person; it’s their choice.”

Rebecca Kass

“That’s OK, as long as the risks are clearly spelled out to the recipient. Distribution [of the drugs] should be limited to research settings. Some good might come of it. The study subjects might do some good for humanity.”
