Should the U.S. do anything about the execution of lesbians and gays in Iran?

Jessica Blakely

“Yes. It’s outrageous to kill someone because of their sexual preference. That’s like killing someone because they’re wearing a red shirt. Our government should do whatever it can to stop that, if it’s true that Iranians are being executed just because they’re gay [or lesbian].”

Louis Crowe
medical researcher
Dublin, Ireland

“It’s totally horrendous what’s happening in Iran. But American intervention could just make things worse, even if the intentions are good. The Iranians will suffer more. Some people dislike George Bush so much, they do the opposite of whatever he says.”

Melissa Morales
student
Spring Garden

“My best friend is gay. And people shouldn’t be killed for nothing. But we should stay out of Iran. It’s crazy over there. Let them handle their own problems.”

Michelle Supry

“Yes. Any type of genocide should receive a swift and decisive response from humanitarian governments. The U.S should work with other countries to end this practice. Collaboration is important so it doesn’t seem like we’re trying to mind everyone else’s business again.”
