World AIDS Day Events

Red Ribbon Awards

The Community Advisory Board of the Penn Center for AIDS Research will hold its annual Red Ribbon Award Ceremony from 4-6 p.m. Nov. 30 at the Council Caucus Room, City Hall.

This year’s award recipients are Duerward Beale, Youth Outreach Adolescent Community Awareness Program; Ronda Goldfein, AIDS Law Project of Pennsylvania; Harlan Shaw, The Attic Youth Center; and Carol Vincent, Special Immunology Programs: Pediatric, Adolescent and Family HIV/AIDS, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

The ceremony is free and open to the public.

Commemoration for Children and Youth

SILOAM will host a day to remember, reflect and honor those affected by HIV/AIDS from 10 a.m.-noon Nov. 30 at 1133 Spring Garden St.

Guest speakers will include Christopher Bartlett and Dolly Rolle.

AIDS Memorial Quilt

AIDS Fund and the William Way Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community Center will host panels from the AIDS Memorial Quilt from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Dec. 1 in the center ballroom at 1315 Spruce St.

Commemorate. Educate. Re-dedicate.

AIDS Fund, in conjunction with the Sapphire Fund and Broad Street Ministry, will collaborate with over 20 local organizations to mark World AIDS Day from 1-4 p.m. Dec. 1 at Broad Street Ministry, 315 S. Broad St., with artistic performances, visual art displays and commemorative ceremonies with free HIV counseling and 20-minute rapid tests.
