Philadelphia is the proud host of the Trans Wellness Conference. Started in 2000 by Charlene Arcila, the event has rapidly grown to become the largest free trans-specific conference in the world featuring workshops and events, keynote speakers, film screenings, community building, networking opportunities and more.

Sometimes I find my interviewees randomly. A few weeks ago at the Mariposa Food Co-op, I was leaving the store and saw a small business card pinned to the bulletin board that caught my eye from an artist running a group called “Queer [as fuck] Artists Social Media.”

Any long time readers of this column know that I am a Christmas-loving atheist. Imagine my joy to find that there’s a huge holiday event happening this month.

The Woods Campground will host a special Christmas in July weekend July 19-21, and I had a chance to speak to Tom Schneider, a camp regular who took the Best Christmas Display award six times before retiring his crown. 

The styles of music are constantly changing. When I was a lad, there were some DJs that had a name, but mostly they played music, going from song to song. These days, DJs are often the producers of the music and are as big a draw as the headliners.
