For over 25 years, the Boy Scouts of America Cradle of Liberty Council has been in violation of the city’s fair-practices ordinance barring discrimination against gays and lesbians in housing, employment and accommodations.

In the past week, gay and lesbians have gained the right to marry in the states of Vermont and Iowa.

The bill that would add “sexual orientation” and “gender identity or expression” to the state’s nondiscrimination law was voted out of the House State Government Committee on March 11 — the first time the legislation had made it out of committee.

In President Obama’s first 60 days, he’s made some great strides toward undoing some of the damage left by eight years of President Bush.
