SIRENS OF SPRING TOUR to Captivate WORLD CAFÉ LIVE on March 28th

siren [noun \sī-rən\] a woman who sings with enchanting sweetness

True to it’s name, the SIRENS OF SPRING TOUR will feature women who sing with enchanting sweetness, and listeners will be treated to a night of engaging performances from Philadelphia based Christine Havrilla & Gypsy Fuzz,  and  Baltimore based Mama’s Black Sheep. The SIRENS OF SPRING TOUR, now in its second year, is a ten day, nine city tour spanning the East coast.  The tour will kick off on Friday March 28th, 2014 at World Café Live at the Queen Theater in Wilmington, DE. World Café Live is a trailblazing live music venue, named after strategic partner, WXPN's nationally-acclaimed NPR syndicated radio show "World Cafe." This second World Café Live location opened in the fully restored Queen Theater in Wilmington in 2011. A full dinner menu will be available during this ALL AGES show. The Queen Theater is located at 500 N. Market St. in Wilmington. Advanced tickets are $14 ($16 @the door).  Doors open at 7pm, show starts at 8pm.
Philadelphia native Christine Havrilla brings her “well-built, catchy, smart tunes” (Upstage Magazine) to audiences everywhere, touring nationally with the support of her new band project, Gypsy Fuzz. Christine utilizes the soft gritty texture of her vocals to express warmth and honesty listeners quickly embrace as well as her aggressive, raw, trash-style guitar playing. Mark Rogers from 93.7 WSTW raves, “…with Gypsy Fuzz (the album and the band), Christine takes especially that rock element and turns it to 11. Gypsy Fuzz fuses fantastic guitar work with Christine’s vocals, which can reach down inside and grab your heart. A very diverse album, showing elements of rock, blues and even country, among others, Gypsy Fuzz continues Christine’s string of fantastic albums. Buy it.”  Named "One of the Top Ten Indie Artists" by The Advocate Magazine, The Washington Post writes, “(Havrilla’s) songs are intelligent and moving, the arrangements are incisive and colorful, and, best of all, Havrilla consistently comes across as a confident and seasoned performer.” Gypsy Fuzz’s premier album titled “Searching. Finding. Living.”, co-produced by Larry Crane (Elliott Smith, Sleater-Kinney, Cat Power), was listed on Advocate Magazine’s not to be missed “Best Overlooked Albums of 2011!” (Advocate -November 2011) and She Wired’s Top Ten Albums of the Year! Christine was nominated for's 2013 Reader's Choice Awards, awarded the 2010 Garden State Film Festival’s “Best Contemporary Country Song” for “Blinders”,  and is called "...raw, simple, wonderful!" by Curve Magazine. Inessa at 101.9 KINK.FM calls Gypsy Fuzz "Yet another fun late-year discover!" Michaela Majoun at 88.5 WXPN applauds her "terrific, big sound” while Philadelphia Magazine states, “She rocks!”

Mama’s Black Sheep is the musical collaboration of singer-songwriters Ashland Miller (guitar/vocals) and Laura Cerulli (drums/vocals).  Touring together since 2008 and both veterans of the singer-songwriter circuit, Miller & Cerulli will make you feel like you’ve been listening to their music for years. Driven by Miller’s versatile guitar grooves, Cerulli’s innovative percussion, and two voices that blend like honey and whiskey, Mama’s Black Sheep create acoustic rock & blues with a style that is distinctly their own. With two well received CD’s to their credit and a third in the works, Mama’s Black Sheep has been burning up the road touring extensively throughout the continental US and the Caribbean playing nearly 200 shows a year. Before Mama’s Black Sheep, Ashland toured for twelve years as part of the award-winning acoustic duo CommonbonD, releasing six CD's, performing on The Nashville Network (TNN), and showcasing their music in over forty states as well as overseas. Ashland's songwriting, harmonies, and creative musical arrangements have been shared on stage with talent such as John Mayer, Ritchie Havens, Catie Curtis, and Sophie B. Hawkins. Laura previously fronted her own band, Cerulean Groove, and from 2005-2008 she toured nationally and internationally as a member of SONiA & disappear fear. Laura’s distinctive style has been appreciated everywhere from The Kerrville Folk Festival (TX), to The Barns at Wolftrap (VA), to the High Sierra Music Festival (CA), to The Red Roof Women’s Festival (Ontario), and even ‘down under’ at Woodford Folk Festival (AUS). Together Miller and Cerulli create a unique tapestry of songs, weaving vibrant color and rich texture to create a dynamic conversation between guitar, percussion and two voices made to sing together. Miller’s passionate voice will make you laugh, cry, feel inspired, and ultimately want more. And Bob Steel of Baltimore Out Loud writes "Cerulli opens her mouth and the world stands still as she wrings every drop of emotion out of the lyrics with her powerful, soaring voice, forged in the fire of the blues and tempered in the cool technique of her classical training."
