The following incidents in the Midtown Village and Washington Square West areas were reported to the Sixth Police District between April 26-May 1. Information is courtesy of Sixth District Capt. Brian Korn; Stacy Irving, senior director, Crime Prevention Service; Center City District; the Police Liaison Committee and Midtown Village Merchants Association.

REPORT: Between 3 p.m. April 10 and 9 p.m. April 26, a window air-conditioning unit in complainant’s apartment in the 900 block of Pine Street was removed; nothing else was taken from inside. Sixth District Officer Sweeney processed fingerprints.

REPORT: At 9:45 a.m. April 28, the valet at Jefferson University Hospital, 111 S. 11th St., walked away from an unattended 2010 Honda with the keys inside. A male got in and drove away, heading north on 11th Street. The suspect was described only as a black male.

REPORT: At 10:50 a.m. April 28, complainant was in her apartment in the 200 block of South 13th Street when a male attempted to kick in the front door. The complainant yelled and the male fled. The offender was described only as a black male. Sixth District Officer Wimsey processed the scene for evidence.

ARREST: At 7:10 p.m. April 28, a male handed an employee of the Subway Sandwich Shop, 1109 Walnut St., a note demanding money. The employee told the manager who refused and called 911, and the male fled the store. Sixth District Officer Braceland stopped the male in the 1100 block of Locust Street and he was positively identified by the complainant. The 21-year-old suspect with a Logan address was charged with robbery and related offenses.

ARREST: At 9:20 p.m. April 28, a male was arrested for prostitution in the 1200 block of Spruce Street by Sixth District plainclothes officers.

ARREST: At 9:20 p.m. April 28, a female was arrested for prostitution in the 200 block of South 12th Street by Sixth District plainclothes officers.

REPORT: Between midnight and 6:30 a.m. May 1, a purse containing cash, a checkbook and a cell phone was stolen from the complainant’s unlocked 2002 Chevy, parked in the 1000 block of Waverly Street. There was no forced entry.

REPORT: Between 5-9:20 a.m. May 1, an out-of-town complainant’s 2003 Nissan, parked in the 300 block of South 12th Street, had a window smashed and an iPod taken. Sixth District Officer Trautz attempted to lift fingerprints.
